After nearly a decade of learning from some of some of the best lawyers in the country, I opened Schumacher Law, LLC in Greenville, South Carolina in early 2008. As a sole practitioner, I can now focus all of my energy on working closely with individual clients and their families to provide tailored, personal service at a fair price.

Working in the areas of estate planning and small business development allows me to explore the intellectual side of the law, particularly the complicated puzzles of our tax code, while working closely with individuals who value thoughtful guidance. When I do my job well, I become a counselor to families over time, establishing a relationship built on trust and respect that is designed to last for my clients' lifetimes and beyond. My goal is to help my clients craft estate and business plans that provide them with peace of mind and, when applicable, significant tax savings to help them secure a prosperous future.

Before opening Schumacher Law, LLC, I worked at Ropes & Gray LLP in Boston, Massachusetts and at Leatherwood Walker Todd & Mann, P.C. here in Greenville. While I focused on estate planning at each firm, in serving my clients I was often called upon to create business entities like family limited partnerships, limited liability companies, and corporations. I now regularly set up new businesses for clients and advise about issues that they will likely face during their first few years as business owners.

When not working, I love spending time with my wife, Catherine (a Spartanburg native), and our two young sons. Hopefully one or both of my boys will eventually enjoy skiing, playing tennis, fly-fishing, hunting, or reading on the back deck with Dad.
